Dresser and Maintenance

Hamlet & Measure for Measure

I was hired by Popup Globe NZ to do dressing and maintenance during their ten week run in Perth, WA. Situated on Crown Burswood's grounds, they built a replica of Shakespeare's globe and performed four of his works; Hamlet, Measure for Measure, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Twelfth Night. I dressed on Measure for Measure and Hamlet and did maintenance on all four show whenever required. As a dresser on Hamlet, my main job was to dress Queen Gertrude (Madeleine Lynch) before the show. This included pin curling her hair, attaching and gluing her wig and helping her dress into a large five layered costume. During the show I had roughly twenty-five quick changes, working with Hamlet (Adrian Hooke), Laertes (Jonathan Tynan-Moss), Rosencrants (salesi Le'ota), Fortinbras (Hugh Sexton), and so many more. 

As a dresser on Measure for Measure, I dressed Mistress Overdone (bryony Skillington), Froth (Lydia Raynes), Mariana (Summer Millett) and Escalus (Madelieine Lynch) before the show. I pincurled and styled their hair, attached wigs, and dressed them in very intricate and heavy costumes. During the show I had thirteen quick changes, three of which being very fast (under thirty seconds).
